On Saturday, April 18 at 7:30 pm, the Rheinische Philharmonie State Orchestra will perform at the Boppard Town Hall. Works by Schumann, Franz and Richard Strauss and Brahms will be performed under the title "Father and Son".
The program begins with Robert Schumann's overture "Scherzo and Finale in E major op. 52", an orchestral piece which - according to Schumann - is not a symphony but a "symphonette".
Together with soloist Christoph Eß, who has already performed with leading orchestras and released numerous CD and radio productions, the Rheinische will play the Concerto for Horn and Orchestra in C minor op. 8 by Franz Strauss and the Concerto for Horn and Orchestra No. 1 in E flat major op. 11 by his son, Richard Strauss.
The last work, "Variations on a Theme by Haydn op. 56a" by Brahms, is a piece based on a chorale.
The future chief conductor Marzena Diakun will be on the podium.
