When the devout and regime-loyal lawyer Iman(Missagh Zareh) is appointed investigating judge at the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, a pistol for self-protection is a kind of insignia of the newly won power and at the same time a first indication of the fragile balance of power in the self-proclaimed theocracy, which has been overrun by violent protests for several months. The weapon, he is told, is for self-defense against the subversive elements that challenge the omnipotence of the mullahs, as he must be able to protect his family. However, it will later become clear that the gun as an instrument of power is seen quite differently by others - not as a means of self-defense, but as an instrument of power of an authoritarian regime that can only respond to any threat from inside or outside with aggression in order to defend its position of power.
