Die Schneekönigin

In the organizer's words:

Narrative theater based on Hans Christian Andersen

from 6 years

Narrator Kathleen Rappolt and musician Annea Mikaela Lounatvuori bring Andersen's world-famous winter tale to the stage.

Kay and Gerda are best friends. They love to play, laugh and dream under the rose bushes on the roof. One day, Kay gets splinters of a broken magic mirror in his heart and eye. Suddenly he finds Gerda ridiculous and stupid. The following winter, Kay does not return from sledging. The ice-cold Snow Queen has kidnapped him.

Undaunted, Gerda sets off in search of her friend. An adventurous journey begins. But the love and hope in her heart to find Kay will not let her give up.

After a fast-paced prologue in which the devil is up to mischief, the two artists take the audience along on Gerda's intrepid search for her boyfriend Kay. A long journey to the happy ending, which is both varied and poetic thanks to the interplay of electronic cello, storytelling, German-Finnish tandem narration and interaction with the audience.
