Joseph Haydn: "The Creation", oratorio for soloists, choir and orchestra Hob. XXI: 2

Founded in 1783 by the Comte d'Ogny, Le Concert de la Loge Olympique, based in the Palais Royal in Paris, was one of the most legendary orchestras of the late 18th century. It went down in music history not least because Haydn's six "Paris Symphonies" were commissioned from it. When violinist and conductor Julien Chauvin decided to revive the legendary orchestra in the form of a historically informed orchestra in 2015, it was clear that the ensemble's focus on Joseph Haydn would be part of its DNA. Now "The Creation" is on the program. Haydn broke with the traditional predominance of arias and gave the choir a much greater role. With his epic about the creation of the world, he thus created the most important contribution to the genre since the death of Handel - and one of the most popular oratorios of all to this day. When Julien Chauvin and Le Concert de la Loge now devote themselves to this epochal masterpiece, they explore its wealth of variations and variants down to the finest detail and turn Haydn's Seven Days of Creation into an experience with their vivid tonal language!
