„Die Sprache der Dinge. Geschichten von Erinnerung, Alltag und Sehnsucht“

Every object tells a story. Some remind us of a person, a place, or a special moment. Others symbolize loss, restrictions, or the pressure to conform. Objects can offer comfort, stir feelings of longing, or tell of life-changing events.

The exhibition “The Language of Things: Stories of Memory, Everyday Life, and Longing” invites visitors to examine everyday objects imbued with a variety of emotions. Halima Aziz, Joshua Hoven, Barbara Müller, Emilse Muñoz Rodríguez, Alla Sokolova, Clara Sorzano Hernández, Alisan Tekin, and Saray Villa Acosta have provided the objects for the exhibition and shared the stories associated with them.

These stories deal with origins, cultural heritage, arriving in a new place and living abroad, family, work, emancipation, identity, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

A curatorial team assembled specifically for this occasion developed the exhibition: Magdalena Mijač, Rabia Özay, Dr. Sigrid Yanara Palacios Castillo, Nikolai Provotorov, and Miriam Wolter—people with diverse life experiences and perspectives.

On September 10, 2026, at 6 p.m., we will open the exhibition with a conversation between curator Rabia Özay, her co-curators, and several storytellers. You are cordially invited!
