Diese und jene Seite. Geschichten über den Tod. Literatur, Poetry

In the organizer's words:

Death plays a central role in all cultures and is the subject of numerous stories. The storytelling duo Kathleen Rappolt and Jan Sell bring four stories from Italy, India, West Africa and Afghanistan to the stage of the Mechanical Arena in the foyer of the Humboldt Forum. Both weave fairy tales and stories into a journey through expectations, experiences and memories of death. German sign language (Jan Sell) and German spoken language (Kathleen Rappolt) combine on stage to create vivid stories about death.

Kathleen Rappolt studied Childhood Education (ASH) in Berlin, followed by a Master's degree in Theater Education and Artistic Storytelling. Storytelling in Art and Education (UdK Berlin). Since 2012 she has been a freelance storyteller, theater pedagogue and lecturer and has had numerous engagements at various theaters, national and international storytelling festivals as well as educational institutions and in diverse projects, including ErzählZeit. She has been an ensemble member at Theater oN since September 2019. From 2015 to 2019 she was artistic director and presenter of the Erzählbühne Berlin.

Jan Sell grew up in a boarding school for the deaf. Even then, he told bedtime stories to the other children in the dormitory and developed exciting dialogues to films on television, as there were no subtitles in the GDR. At the age of 15 he was already on the big stage and since then he has participated in various theater productions. In 2003 he was awarded best actor for the role of Bruno in the play Martha and in 2014 for the role of Gildo in Gott ist taub. Currently Jan Sell works as a performer, editor and operator in the media department of ZfK e.V. and as a storyteller.
