Adrian Willaert St. John Passion

The Flemish composer Adrian Willaert (1490?-1562) was a highly esteemed chapel master at San Marco in Venice for 35 years. The extraordinarily prolific composer is credited with synthesizing three styles: Dutch, French and Italian. The a cappella ensemble Dionysos Now! brings his music to life for us in an authentic way: The evangelist words of his Passion are sung by four voices, those of Jesus in three, the turban choirs are in six voices. The name of the ensemble refers to the Greek god Dionysus, a symbol of strength, art and cohesion - and is the program.
