A concert hall becomes a club? Dancefloor instead of rows of chairs? The 12-piece "Orchester im Treppenhaus" from Hanover loves to break with habits. Their program "DISCO", which consists of various commissioned compositions, is not just called that. In the Elbphilharmonie recently, the dignified concert audience could no longer keep their seats. As unbelievable as it sounds, there was dancing between the rows. In an exuberant musical experience with compositions by Christopher Boehm, Benjamin Scheuer, Kostia Rapoport and Christoph König, among others, the audience and music ensemble merged into a quivering mass. But don't worry: the concert version of this program will be performed for the first time at the "Mannheimer Sommer". If you just want to listen, just stay seated.
With "DISCO", the Orchester im Treppenhaus has already shown at festivals such as "Fusion" or "Detect Classic" what the future of classical music could be - and that it exists: New music to dance to!
