How are memory, identity and responsibility formed in a danced present? Doisri is an interdisciplinary performance that combines movement, sound and language to create a moving structure. Personal memories meet social issues - not told in a linear fashion, but in performative fragments: Movements, sounds, images, narratives and words become metaphors that are choreographically condensed.

The performance develops as an open network of sensory impressions and thought processes, leaving room for interpretation and reflection. For Doisri, Jonas Frey collaborates with Dominik Fürstberger, who translates the themes into a multi-layered sound concept.

The title Doisri (Sranan Tongo for German) refers to the childhood of Jonas Frey's father in the internment camp in Suriname - a biographical trace that connects with current questions of media truth formation and historical responsibility.

Jonas Frey is a choreographer, dancer and dance teacher with roots in hip-hop and breaking. Following his studies at the ArtEZ School of Dance and a master's degree in choreography at Codarts/Fontys, he develops works at the interface of club and street dance as well as contemporary choreography.
His artistic practice is characterized by co-creation, in which all participants become co-authors of the process. Jonas' work is developed in his home city of Mannheim as well as on a national and international level. Together with Julie Pécard, he directs the Junior Company at EinTanzHaus and is co-director of Mpower Urban, a platform for choreographic development in the field of club and street styles. In 2025-26 he is a resident artist at Theater Freiburg as part of the Réseau Grand Luxe.

The project-based dance company COTA Projects was founded by dancers and choreographers Jonas Frey and Julie Pécard and combines dance with social reflection. Julia Headley joins the team as a dancer and arts and culture manager. The work is based on four pillars: choreography, outreach, teaching and activism.

A production of COTA projects, funded by the Landesverband Freie Tanz- und Theaterschaffende Baden-Württemberg e. V., the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Cultural Office of the City of Mannheim. In cooperation with EinTanzHaus Mannheim, in residence with La Cap Re|Hub, research in residence at Tanzhaus Zürich.
