Fantastic operetta by Jacques Offenbach

Doctor Ox and his assistant Ygen form the unbeatable scientific duo Ox-Ygen. With their newly invented "revitalizing gas" Oxygen, they cause a stir in the sleepy town of Quiquedonne with an unusual experiment. The gas was actually supposed to boost the economy in the town, which is at loggerheads with its neighboring city. But it upsets everything and sets the phlegmatic citizens of Quiquedonne on edge.

In Jacques Offenbach's opulent work, Doctor Ox, first performed in 1877, is a gem to be rediscovered. Based on a short story by Jules Verne, Offenbach's lively satire is a mixture of sense and nonsense - a sparkling stage spectacle.
