How much can we trust the images we see? When Lucas plays a video of a shocking death to Lynn during a Zoom call and falls into a trance, she initially believes it's another stunt by her brother, who recently went viral on YouTube. But he is not the only one who reacts this way to recordings from her home town. And none of the people involved can remember it afterwards. What's happening in Larkin, Texas? What secrets are the cameras capturing - and what sinister force is preventing them from being decoded?

"Dolly!" Sounds cute? Far from it! Because it's a heavyweight monster that loves to play with human dolls. It particularly enjoys it when they scream in panic and are already missing a body part or two! When Chase and the love of his life, Macy, accidentally enter its territory on a hike, the monster descends on them like a force of nature. It drags Macy back to its home, where a nightmare of pain and humiliation awaits her. And no one has ever come out of Dolly's dark doll's house alive.

Rod Blackhurst delivers one of the most violent genre films of the year: DOLLY is a dirty, bloodthirsty homage to the US grindhouse cinema of the 1970s, coupled with the nihilistic coldness of French extreme horror of the early 2000s. Definitely humor-free. But nostalgically coarse-grained, shot on 16 millimeter film, and with a Seann William Scott ("Stifler" from AMERICAN PIE) who demonstrates a real capacity for suffering.
