The Canadian singer-songwriter Dominique Fils Aimé from Montreal is on tour in Europe and is coming to Germany for 4 concerts

Her current album "Our roots run deep" was awarded a JUNO Award (Canadian Grammy) in March 2024 as best vocal jazz album.

Inspired by soul icons such as Billie Holiday, Etta James and Nina Simone, Dominique Fils-Aimé tells of the source of her soul with her self-written songs. The new single "Moi je t'aime" will be released to accompany the tour. Her first album trilogy conceptualized the history of African-American music. Dominique reflected on the social realities and the civil rights movement that influenced the blues, jazz and soul genres.

Our Roots Run Deep is the first statement of a new trilogy and follows her #1# chart award-winning trilogy "Nameless", "Stay Tuned!" and "Three Little Words". Now Dominique looks inward and reflects on her own emotional and spiritual landscape - her roots.

Last week, on June 06, 2024, her first French single "Moi je t'aime" was released.

This song explores new sources of inspiration for the two-time JUNO award winner and is reminiscent of traditional French songwriters such as Edith Piaf. Although there is a stylistic change, Dominique's unmistakable vocals shine through. Dominique's words have a quality that comes from great clarity. She opens the song with a simple plea: "Maybe one day you will love me the way I love you". She then reveals an original insight: "Life welcomes those who truly love each other." The song expresses not only the joy of love, but also the self-respect of withdrawing when love is not reciprocated. There is tension between these strong feelings, but the bigger picture of belief in love proves to be the overarching inspiration for this song.
