In this concert, classical grandeur meets a landmark of modernism. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 in E flat major KV 482 unfolds an orchestral opulence with solemn splendor and clarinets used prominently for the first time in 1785, which Jean-Efflam Bavouzet crowns on the grand piano with clear brilliance and subtle expressiveness. With Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 in E minor op. 93, the orchestra deepens its season focus "Planet Shostakovich". Composed after Stalin's death in 1953, it combines deep pain, grotesque mockery and the unbridled triumph of the individual over tyranny. Under the direction of Christoph Altstaedt, this monumental work becomes an impressive sound image of human resilience - a highlight in the intensive examination of the exceptional composer's oeuvre.
