LAST SCREENING BEFORE THE RECONSTRUCTION!!!

Dear friends of the art of film,

as the Hubertus-Halle will be renovated from March and will remain closed for a few months, the Kino-Klub will present its last screening in the "old" hall on February 10th. Admission is free!

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to name the title of the film for licensing reasons.

However, it is a wonderful film about a chance acquaintance in Dublin's pedestrian zone. A street musician meets a young woman and a lot happens, but NOT what you would expect. Instead, a vacuum cleaner is rolled through Dublin, the "I'm a sucker" song is warbled on the bus and a young immigrant shows how to stay connected to high culture even without money.

The main actor and director used to play in a band together and this musical affinity characterizes the film. Some reviews describe the film as a modern musical, but this in no way does justice to the special nature of the film.

The film's music was actually composed by the two main actors (just like in the film plot), it is performed by them in the film and has also been successful as a purely musical release. The soundtrack to the film won an Oscar, was nominated for two Grammys and was awarded several gold records. The film itself has also won a number of film awards - despite being a low-budget production! The film was shot mainly with hand-held cameras entirely at original locations, has no star cast and in this respect is the exact opposite of what we are used to seeing in other films.
