Dr. Tobias Bringmann • "Klimaneutralität meets Realpolitik – ein Stresstest“
In the organizer's words:
On Thursday, November 5, 2026, the Kulturhaus Schwanen and Waiblingen klimaneutral e. V. invite you to a lecture and discussion evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Kulturhaus Schwanen in Waiblingen. Under the title “Climate Neutrality Meets Realpolitik—A Stress Test,” Dr. Tobias Bringmann, Executive Director of the Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU) of Baden-Württemberg, will discuss how climate neutrality can be achieved under real-world political, economic, and technical conditions.
The transition to a climate-neutral economy and society is one of the greatest challenges of our time.
The power grid and charging infrastructure must be expanded, revenue from gas sales is declining, and offering dynamic rates is required by law. This poses more than just financial challenges for municipal utilities. And there is often a gap between ambitious climate goals and the realities of realpolitik: economic interests, technical feasibility, and social acceptance are at odds with one another. How can these tensions be resolved? Where must compromises be made—and where not? And when does the conflict become a stress test?
This is precisely where the evening with Dr. Tobias Bringmann comes in. His presentation examines the discrepancy between ideal and reality and discusses how climate neutrality can be achieved under the conditions of realpolitik. The focus is on conflicts, compromises, and priorities—and on the question of where pragmatism is necessary and where it reaches its limits. The event is aimed at people interested in local climate policy, energy supply, and future societal issues, as well as anyone wondering how climate neutrality can be achieved in concrete terms, beyond mere buzzwords.
Following the talk, there will be time for discussion and exchange. Free admission is available; registration is not required. Anyone wishing to support the event can purchase voluntary solidarity tickets ranging from 5 to 15 euros in advance or at the Box Office.
