Drei Schwestern

Ortrud, Mechthild and Ingrid live a secure life. What happens outside has little effect on them. What a relief! The party can go on!

In nervous restlessness, they transfigure their memories and hope that everything will soon be better for them personally. They are busy searching for - well, what is it? An invisible force seems to be preventing them from taking control of their lives, setting themselves a task, making a plan, or at least a sketch of one. Instead, they love and party to pass the time, make life difficult for their lazy brother and despise their sister-in-law, who is the only one providing for the offspring that could populate the longed-for future.

Outside, the military is on drill, its handsome representatives spurring on the love life and who are happy to visit you at home. But what war is actually being prepared here? At whose expense are they celebrating? Such questions are not asked in the salons.

Chekhov's "Three Sisters" have been stuck between the hope of a glorious future and the firm conviction that everything was better in the past for more than a hundred years. They celebrate birthdays and name days, let themselves be served, drink their mostly hot tea from the samovar on shady terraces, close their eyes to their own downfall and are happy about anything that doesn't directly affect them.

And us? We've been watching them party and moan for many seasons now. Time for an interview
