In Aus Versehen Deutsch, American journalist Drew Portnoy recounts with dry humor how a casual decision in middle school turned his life upside down: Back then, he chose German as a foreign language - only because no one else was interested in it. Years later, he swapped the Rocky Mountains of his native Colorado for big city life in Berlin. To this day, he wonders whether that was the right choice. Portnoy talks about his three favorite subjects with a great deal of self-irony and a sense of cultural bizarreness: Germany, his family and himself.

He can often be seen on successful comedy formats throughout Germany such as NightWash, Quatsch Comedy Club and Komische Nacht. He is also a regular presenter at Comedyflash and the Downstairs Comedy Club in Berlin and at Schnack Standup in Hamburg. He has won the Comedy Central Roast Battle three times.
