In the organizer's words:

John Neumeier created his first full-length symphonic ballet with the "Third Symphony by Gustav Mahler" in 1975. In the ensemble piece, he directly translates Mahler's stirring, multi-layered music and its inherent emotions into dance. The work has been celebrated worldwide: The "New York Times" called the ballet "one of the greatest classical choreographies of our century."
