In her poem“To the Women Writers,” Annette von Droste-Hülshoff addresses her female colleagues and explores the role, responsibility, and conditions of women’s writing. 

The Rüschhaus, where Droste-Hülshoff lived and wrote for many years, brings this space of women’s writing to life to this day. Here, visitors can see the conditions under which a 19th-century female author worked and the questions she posed through her writing. 

With the 2026 Droste Festival,“To the Women Writers,” the Rüschhaus becomes a venue for contemporary women’s writing. Together with female authors, thinkers, and the audience, the CfL will embark on a journey of discovery at the Droste Festival to explore the conditions, possibilities, and visions for the future of women’s writing.
