Dunkelkammer-Workshop: vom Negativ zum Abzug

A shoebox full of prints, a box of slides, a strip of negatives in a glassine envelope. Analog pictures have a peculiarity: they don't just disappear, they are stored. They wait.

In the workshop "Unfixing the archive - from negative to print" we bring this material to light. Negatives, slides and family photos that you bring with you will become the basis for your own prints. We enlarge, expose, develop and actively intervene in the image. Because there is more to enlarging than mere reproduction: image detail and exposure time are decisions that change the image. A moment in the developer that is too long, a shift of the paper under the enlarger, an object directly on the surface - the image opens up for interventions, for overpainting, for new meanings.

The archive material brought along serves as a starting point, not as a template. Objects can become photograms, prints can become fragments of a collage. What was once captured is questioned anew.

The workshop is aimed at participants aged 18 and over who

who have their own analog pictures, whether taken by themselves or inherited, and would like to rediscover or rethink them with the means of the photo lab. Previous knowledge is not necessary.

To participate, please bring your own negatives (black and white, developed), slides or analog image material from the family archive.
