"Contemplative jazz during Lent"
The Duo Clarino, in the unusual but very appealing line-up of double bass and clarinet, takes up pieces by the great composers in jazz without straining listening habits. On this evening, the two musicians Matthias "Clarino" Ernst and Wolfgang Kriener perform compositions by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Richard Rodgers, Irving Berlin, Michael Legrand, Django Reinhart and others.
Due to the spiritual reference of the pieces, the two musicians also create a powerful atmosphere with quiet ballads. With improvisations, original compositions and occasional excursions into Latin American pieces, they build up an arc of tension that fits wonderfully into Lent.
The essence of music is to bring joy.
