Durch unsere Augen | Ein Kiezfilm von und mit Frauen vom Mehringplatz

In the organizer's words:

We are showing the documentary and essayistic film "Through our eyes" and inviting you to a discussion with the filmmakers afterwards.

Women from the neighborhood around Mehringplatz talk about their everyday experiences, stories of origin and the daily challenges between work and family at Mehringplatz and beyond.

The women's film project was created together with the women of the"Arab Thementisch" group and filmmaker Therese Koppe.

The women not only acted in front of the camera but also behind it as authors, directors and image and sound designers. Together with filmmaker Therese Koppe and Wafaa Khattab from Quartiersmanagement am Mehringplatz, they got to know cinematic techniques by watching films together over a longer period of time. The aim was to acquire the medium of film as an empowering means of creation and expression.

HAU Hebbel am Ufer connected the participants and co-produced the film. The Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin (ZLB) supported the creation of the film with space and infrastructure.
