Early James - Medium Raw Tour 2025 | Berlin

Early James is the stage name of singer, guitarist and composer Frederick James Mullis Jr. who was born on June 2, 1993 in Troy, Alabama and is the founder of Early James & the Latest. After receiving his first guitar as a Christmas present at the age of sixteen, he began learning and writing his first songs, which were inspired by Johnny Cash, among others. He first performed as a support act for his friend's band 'Fire Mountain' and then settled in Birmingham, where he adopted his stage name and formed Early James & the Latest in the early 2010s.

At one of his shows, he was visited by Dan Auerbach, mastermind of blues-rock duo The Black Keys, who signed him to his Easy Eye Sound label in 2019 and produced his debut album Singing for My Supper (2020), in which his blend of blues, rock, Americana, folk and country unfolds. Although the Covid-19 pandemic scuppered tour plans, Early James dedicated himself to composing his second album "Strange Time to Be Alive", which was released in August 2022 after a series of concerts with 'The Lone Bellow'. The track "Real Low Down Someone", which was celebrated on the streaming platforms, is featured by singer Sierra Ferrell. Early James then headed to Honky Chateau Studio in Nashville to record a more intimate album with his bassist Adrian Marmolejo, "Medium Raw", which was released in early 2025 and reached #11 on the blues charts.
