Before the movie there will be a short introduction by Antonio Marquês Bras - media artist and musician who brought the first EBM bands to southern Germany in the mid 80s.

Followed by EBM/industrial music with BINARx (alias Antonio Marquês Bras). EXCLUSIVELY for the Slow Club he will present two tracks by BINAR for the first time, which he recorded with Itchy (Shock Therapy) and others in Detroit in the early 90s and which were previously unreleased.

THE FILM

"Electronic Body Movie" EBM is the first documentary to explore the history and rediscovery of Electronic Body Music (EBM), which began in Germany and Belgium in the early 80s. EBM represents a dancefloor-oriented evolution of industrial music, with deep roots in post-punk and Neue Deutsche Welle. Pioneering bands such as Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (DAF), Front 242 and Liaisons Dangereuses, among others, laid the foundations for this new style of music, which was characterized by pounding beats, aggressive vocals and sequenced synth basses. Adrenaline-charged live shows, controversial lyrics and provocative looks shocked the music press, fired the public's imagination and left a burning mark on the hearts and minds of their followers.

Four decades later, EBM is considered an important forerunner of techno and modern clubbing music. A large and loyal fan base from all over the world keeps the cult alive and regularly organizes festivals and special events. The documentary is a visual journey into the iconic sound of EBM, full of rare archive videos, unreleased live footage and exclusive interviews. Current DJs and producers talk about how they are still inspired by these influences today. Revealing what lies behind the longevity of this music and how it continues to shape electronic music.

THE DIRECTOR

Pietro Anton, born in Magenta (Italy) in 1978, graduated in Film Studies at the DAMS University in Bologna. After working as a producer in Milan for broadcasters such as Sky, MTV and Mediaset, he moved to Berlin. There he began his career as a documentary filmmaker with "Italo Disco Legacy", a film about the Italian dance music cult of the 80s. The film premiered at the sold-out Berghain club in 2018 and has since toured the world, with 68 screenings in 24 countries.

ANTONIO MARQUÊS BRAS

is a media artist, composer, musician, graphic and sound designer, filmmaker, DJing live act and producer. He is the founder of the band LA MORTE DE LA MAISON, BINAR and THESE SPOKEN WOR(L)DS. With METROPOLIS LIVE, he has accompanied the silent film classic Metropolis by Fritz Lang with his own soundtrack for 25 years.
In the mid-1980s, he worked as a DJ and brought the first EBM bands to southern Germany. From the 1990s, music productions and stage performances for interna􀆟onale artists.
