From 16 to 18 April 2026, everything will revolve around the microscope, a groundbreaking invention that, like the telescope, has revolutionized our view of scientific relationships. With its help, we are focusing on microplastics as one of the most pressing issues of our time. What do we mean by this, where do we encounter it in the environment and in our bodies and what consequences does it have for our society? In workshops, fulldome programs, lectures and live performances, you will experience an exciting journey from the microcosm of life to the infinite vastness of the universe.
All events for "Invisible worlds: From Microcosm to Universe" can be found here.
"Echoes in Orbit" is an immersive live fulldome performance by Berlin-based studio Magnificent M atter in collaboration with Tara Nome Doyle and Sofi Paez.
The work focuses on live microscopy as a performative medium. Liquids, particles and physical processes are made visible in real time using high-precision ZEISS optics and translated into large-format, pulsating projections across the entire dome of the Zeiss-Großplanetarium. What is normally reserved for the laboratory unfolds here as a slowly breathing visual space.
Parallel to this, the musical level develops in a sensitive interplay of voice, piano and electronic sound textures. The introspective sound language of Sofi Paez and the cinematic vocal presence of Tara Nome Doyle form a lively counterpart to the microscopic visual worlds.
Positioned between concert, laboratory and cinematic space, "Echoes in Orbit" invites the audience into a state of concentrated perception. The performance is not intended as an illustration of scientific images, but as a poetic translation of material processes into time, sound and space.
All visual sequences are created live using real-time microscopy.
