Ehre sei Gott! Chormusik a cappella

The Philharmonia Choir invites you to a summer concert featuring sacred a cappella music.

Under the title “Glory to God,” Johannes Knecht has compiled a special and multifaceted selection of a cappella works. The first part of the concert features compositions by German masters of the early Baroque and Romantic periods, including works by Johann Hermann Schein, Johann Pachelbel, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and Franz Liszt. The second part of this varied evening looks beyond national borders to Europe and America, all the way up to the heavens. And here, even the audience begins to sing along.

Diverse programs, trained voices, and always open to new ideas: The Philharmonia Chor Stuttgart combines diversity, enthusiasm, and high musical quality. With a repertoire ranging from large-scale choral-symphonic and oratorio works to small-scale a cappella pieces, the Philharmonia Chor Stuttgart has been a fixture in Stuttgart’s musical life since 1986.

The ensemble is led by Johannes Knecht, the long-time choir director of the Stuttgart State Opera Choir, former Chef du Chœur at the renowned Opéra de Lyon, and professor of choral conducting at the conservatories of music in Stuttgart and Lübeck.
