Meiningen State Theater

Hand puppet thriller based on Agatha Christie

At Little Paddocks, the country estate of Letitia Blacklock, everything seems to be in perfect order. Many guests have arrived at the old lady's house and the lady of the house enjoys the visit of the young people, her niece Julia, her nephew Patrick and the garden designer Philippa. Also in the household are her somewhat quirky friend Bunny and a Hungarian cook. A newspaper advertisement reporting that a murder is to take place in their house shocks the illustrious company. The people concerned play it down as stupidity, a game or a student joke, but the advertisement turns out to be a prophecy. Who committed the murder? Finding out is a difficult task. Fortunately, the world-famous amateur detective Miss Marple takes on the case.

"A murder is announced", the original English title of the detective story, was published in 1950, entertained theater audiences in countless productions and has since been filmed three times. This is the first time that the Meiningen State Theater Puppet Theatre has staged a murder mystery for adults, telling the exciting story with hand puppets.
