It is a tribute to a friend and companion. For Ingo Metzmacher, the composer Anton Plate was a great inspiration and a musical soulmate. For Hanover and the Hanover University of Music, he was an important figure in musical life and teaching.
For this reason, the KunstFestSpiele are dedicating this special evening to the memory of the composer, who died in September 2023. The GrauSchumacher Piano Duo will place two of his pieces at the center of the program. 'Greasy Luck' and 'A Rose for Emily' refer in different ways to works by the great American writers Herman Melville, Henry D. Thoreau and William Faulkner.
They are accompanied by music by Schubert and Ravel: music that Anton Plate greatly appreciated. The 'Fantasy in F minor' in particular was one of his absolute favorites.
