Queer history shines: Celebrating queer joy, community and the creative power that sustains our history. In this gala, we give space to voices that wanted to silence the Nazis. Queer people have always been more than the hostility they experience. Their stories are diverse and also tell of queer joie de vivre, community and self-assertion.
We want to give space to the voices of queer people that the Nazis tried to silence. Their stories are as diverse as the storytellers themselves - they deal with all emotions, they deal with life. Through their art, poems and songs, we want to let them speak for themselves and take us into their lives and emotions.
We invite you to a gala with contributions by and about Liddy Bacroff, Ovida Delect, Hannah Hoech, Bruno Balz, Sylvin Rubinstein, Anita Rée and many others and to a reflection on (in)visibility and queer resistance. An evening for all queers and their allies.
Among the people we present are both people who have seen themselves as queer and those whose lives, relationships or forms of expression we can understand today as part of queer history.
The performers include: Blessless Mahoney, Joelle Mesen-Ramirez, Daniel & Tim Stolte, Maria Babusch & Yohan Holtkamp, René*e Reith, Paul Ninus Naujoks, Didine van der Platenvlotbrug
