El Tauscho - Tauschflohmarkt

“El Tauscho” is—or rather, was—well-known in Neustadt: as a cabinet. A swap cabinet. People who no longer need items but don’t want to throw them away can leave them there for others who’d like to reuse them. It’s a great, sustainable concept that’s being adapted into a small market on the square in front of the barn.

How does it work?
Items can be dropped off and/or picked up as needed at “flea market booths” we’ve already set up (under pavilions and thus rain-protected). Both are free of charge. You don’t have to stay on-site the whole time, though of course there’s always room for a friendly chat at the “booth.”

The selection isn’t curated, so you can drop off anything for now. Coat racks will be available for clothes, and there will be a bulletin board for larger appliances or furniture. There’s little point in lugging a sofa through the neighborhood when the potential new user might live just two floors down. And trash—in the true sense of the word—should be disposed of exclusively through the appropriate channels and not dumped in public. A plea to common sense: Please only offer items that are in working condition or reusable! If items are left over and not taken by others, you don’t need to pick them up. We’ll handle the rest through a multi-step process (sorting, forwarding items to the German Red Cross clothing bank and similar organizations, and disposing of any remaining waste).

Important!
Selling is not allowed—this is a swap and giveaway market. It’s not a flea market in the traditional sense! No food! No bulky waste dump! It’s actually quite simple.
