In the organizer's words:
3-part ballet evening by Andrea Carino, Marcelino Libao, Vincenzo Timpa
Duration: 2 hours | 1 intermission | ages 16 and up
In theater, a black box typically describes a simple performance space, usually square with black walls. It is the simplicity of the space that creates a multitude of possibilities in the configuration of stage and audience interaction - an open framework for artistic experimentation.
For the second edition of the "Black Box" series developed by ballet director Rémy Fichet, the black stage space will once again become the focus space for various choreographic languages. A special place for new movement languages is being created at Schauspielhaus Leipzig: Established choreographers from the ranks of the ensemble are developing works that this time turn to Rainer Maria Rilke's "Duino Elegies".
The elegies revolve around existential questions: the longing for the transcendental, the confrontation with transience, the necessity of transformation. "Elegies" is a choreographic exploration of Rilke's condensed language. All in black, very close to the audience, between classical technique and contemporary expression.
