10 hours yoga therapy workshop with Susan Michel!

Saturday evening - Somatic Flow (3 hours)

In these three hours of relaxation and yoga, we start with some simple mobilization exercises and a guided meditation. This leads into a gentle, somatic flow class where you are invited to feel with playful, flowing movements. We end the evening with a yoga nidra, the yogic sleep that both creates calm and contributes to deep regeneration.

Immerse yourself in the finer, gentler aspects of yoga for three hours to relax and experience body therapy.

Sunday - day workshop (7 hours)

In this supplementary module to the yoga therapy training, we delve deeper into the topics of yoga philosophy, somatic experience of the body and regulation of the nervous system. This course is just as valuable without previous experience as it is for yoga therapy graduates as it is completely self-contained.

The basics of yoga therapy such as "body reading", yoga nidra, meditation and mindful touch are integrated as well as new topics.

We take up aspects of classical yoga philosophy to reflect on how yoga can influence our development as human beings. What does it mean to have yoga as a way of life in the modern world? Can we step out of "doing" and connect to "being" and how does this help us to heal naturally and face life's challenges.

Neurological findings and concepts such as Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory also help us to understand what is necessary to bring our energy into the world in a content, balanced and joyful way.

It is precisely from this inner space that we create a good ability to relate, both to ourselves and to other people and the world in which we live.

In addition to yoga philosophy and the nervous system's capacity for neuroplasticity, i.e. for change and adaptation, we will also look at how we can better differentiate between stress and trauma. This enables us to deal with these issues more consciously for ourselves and as yoga teachers/practitioners.

This in-depth workshop will help you to

  • refine your alignment in the yoga asanas in order to practise in a way that is easier on the joints and to better grasp the energetic aspects of the postures.
  • experience yourself somatically and understand why this is so important for the regulation of the nervous system.
  • experience the deeper, inner aspects of the practice to potentially bring more calm and resilience into your everyday life and relationships.
  • to communicate your message as a yoga teacher/practitioner more clearly and self-reflectively.
  • find a personal approach to yoga instead of learning a method.
  • gain new insights and skills for your practice and/or teaching.
