ELIJAH FOX

The pianist, multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Elijah Fox now lives in Los Angeles. However, he learned to play the piano at the age of 11 in his home town of Durham, North Carolina, where the pianist Yusuf Salim, who had already played with Charlie Parker, noticed him at an early age and gave him his first gigs in local jazz clubs.
Fox studied piano at the Oberlin Conservatory with Sullivan Fortner, Billy Hart, Dan Wall and Gary Bartz and graduated in 2017 before leaving home and moving to New York City.
His piano composition East Village may be familiar to some from Drake and 21 Savage, who sampled Fox's work on Major Distribution. The song reached number 3 in the Billboard charts. Fox has also recorded and or produced for SZA, Masego, YG, ScHoolboy Q, Denzel Curry, Tate McCrae, MusiqSoulchild, Childish Gambino, Kali Uchis, J Cole and many others, as well as releasing his own compositions and sample packs.
In addition, the apparently tireless Fox is also the touring keyboardist for British drummer Yussef Dayes and has already played concerts around the globe.
But Fox has also played a number of sold-out concerts in the USA and Europe with his own works, including in legendary venues such as Ronnie Scott's in London, Biko in Milan and Monk in Rome.
Elijah Fox's sound blends elements of jazz, impressionism and psychedelic soul.
And if that wasn't enough, Fox also releases instrumental music under the pseudonym Søren Søstrom.
On November 8, Elijah Fox will be coming to the Nachtasyl for a concert so that Hamburg can get its own impression of this multi-talented artist.
