Film & subsequent audience talk with director Aslı Özarslan and actor Ali-Emre Sahin.

Hazal's most fervent wish: a chance at life. Despite many applications, she is not invited to a single interview. Instead, she is stuck in an educational program run by the job center, which keeps sending her back to her place. But on her 18th birthday, Hazal feels strong. It's like old times, when she and her friends thought they could achieve anything as long as they stuck together. It's only when they're standing in line at a hip club that Hazal realizes they don't belong here. And she is right. The bouncer turns them down. On their way home, they are harassed by an arrogant student and the situation escalates. The anger from the never-ending rejection erupts in a momentous encounter.
Hazal flees head over heels to Istanbul, a brand new city in an unfamiliar country. There she must survive alone, whatever the cost.

ELLBOGEN tells the story of a young woman who is pushed out of a society that can only be hers. You want to run through the night with her, you want to know what will happen to her and to all of us.
