Astrid is a teacher and lives with Klara, her much younger partner, when one evening her superior Balderkamp announces a visit to their apartment. It's supposed to be an informal meeting, perhaps over a glass of wine, but Klara doesn't trust it. After all, he still teaches at the school where she met Astrid when she was still a pupil. So that evening, the separation of professional and private, past and present proves to be more and more of an illusion. And then there's Ellen Babić...

A psychological thriller about the delicate web of interpersonal dependencies, shattered certainties, abuse of power and the dynamics at work in all our relationships.

The plays by author and director Marius von Mayenburg are characterized by the psychological accuracy of their dialogues, the situational comedy and the topicality and sharpness of the conflicts they deal with. With "Ellen Babić", one of his texts can now be seen for the first time at the Berliner Ensemble. A co-production with Theater Winterthur.
