Let's Talk About Sacre

With iconic dance creations by TANZ_KASSEL, which have been developed over the last two years together with influential Israeli choreographers such as Hofesh Shechter, Eyal Dadon, Yossi Berg and Oded Graf, the festival presents a wide range of dazzling and breathtaking forms of movement in Kassel and documents the artistic relevance and aesthetic diversity of the important contemporary dance tradition from Israel. In addition, there are creations by Roni Chadash, Michael Getman and Klil Ela Rotshtain as well as the newcomer platform 1|2|3 by the Suzanne Dellal Center for Dance and Theatre, Tel Aviv. Together, these works paint a choreographic picture of how bodies react to change, how movement stores memory and how artistic signatures can express cultural affiliation - without being reduced to bold statements.

In the midst of current political tensions, the festival offers space for differentiated artistic voices - beyond national or political attributions. It sees dance as a medium of remembrance, dialog and resistance that opens up new perspectives, especially in times of crisis. Artistic forms of expression do not automatically reflect political positions. The choreographers and dancers participating in EMBODIED_DISSENT do not necessarily support the policies of their government. Rather, they represent a broad spectrum of viewpoints - including critical and resistant ones.

Especially in times of crisis, it is crucial to make different and sometimes controversial artistic voices heard. Art reflects the pulse of society: currents, tensions and issues that are present in the public sphere. It must not be restricted by political guidelines or suppressed by boycotts. Different artistic perspectives are indispensable - as a space for reflection, criticism and new points of view. EMBODIED_DISSENT sees itself as a platform for precisely such voices - for debate, experience and exchange.

At the same time, EMBODIED_DISSENT is an invitation to engage with movement that touches - not only through volume, but also through nuance. Not only through content-related assertions, but also through the sheer presence in the space. An occasion for all those who want to understand dance as a place of dialog, attention and shared human experience. Dance as a transitional space for reflection and conversation - in which different perspectives can and may coexist.
