Emil Tischbein travels to Berlin alone for the first time. By train. And in his luggage a small fortune of 250 euros for his grandmother. As a precaution, the bills are attached to his suit with a safety pin. But disaster strikes. Emil falls asleep during the train journey and all the money is gone. Only one person could have done it: the man with the plaid hat! Emil immediately sets off in pursuit. But he is in danger of losing track of the thief in the urban jungle. How lucky for Emil that he meets Pony. The girl is a real stunner and a really good friend. Will they manage to catch the criminal together and get the money back?

For the 75th anniversary of the TDJW, Erich Kästner's classic, which opened the TDJW in 1946, is being brought back to the stage.
