"A Tribute to Pharoah Sanders"
The Creator has a Masterplan B
Recently, one of the last great representatives of avant-garde jazz from John Coltrane's circle, Pharoah Sanders, left this planet.
Sanders is regarded as one of the founders of ethno jazz, often incorporating the spiritual traditions of Africa into his music and making them a theme.
Reason enough for Johannes Enders (Tied and Tickles Trio, Enders Room etc) to celebrate this great tenor saxophonist with a tribute, for which he was able to win over his long-time partner in crime Gene Calderazzo. Calderazzo, who has worked with Sanders for over ten years and is known from bands such as Steve Lacy, Mike Gibbs, Radiohead, Ulf Wakenius, Evan Parker, Bheki Mseleku and many others, proves to be the perfect basis for this trio. The two are supported by bassist Joris Teepe, who regularly tours the USA and Europe with greats such as Randy Brecker, Marc Copland, Rashied Ali etc.
