Erlend Øye & La Comitiva @ Festsaal Kreuzberg

In the organizer's words:

La Comitiva is an expression in Italian that describes the people you regularly hang out with - perhaps on an excursion or out and about in the city. The Sicilian city of Siracusa is not known for its music scene, but in the summer of 2016 something unusual happened there: people from different countries and different parts of Sicily started meeting in Ortigia (the old town of Siracusa) to jam on their instruments and move from one piazza to another during the day and night. The social magnet at the heart of this movement is Luigi Orofin. In the fall, the activities shifted to the country house of Erlend Øye, who tried to record the music, mainly covers of Sicilian, Cuban, Colombian, Mexican and Brazilian songs. The results of the recording were not yet optimal, but this new music laid the foundation for La Comitiva's future songwriting.
