In the organizer's words:

"GELL!" is the name of the program and it is already clear: Oops, Swabian! To be more precise: songwriter, comedian and Swabian.
And the critics also call Ernst Mantel's songs and everyday scenes "Swabian at its best". "And they're also hilarious!" (an anonymous audience member after a performance: "Mr. Mantel! I cried tears!")

Mantel plays with language and dialect like few others and does so with an obvious delight in both the enigmatic and the banal, so that the boundaries sometimes threaten to blur. He is also a precise observer of painstakingly hidden weaknesses, a reader between the lines and a language juggler in the Lord and, as he says of himself, "driven by an irrepressible inclination to inclinations."

"A life without humor is possible, but not desirable. The fact that there are different kinds of humor is of secondary importance. Whether high-grade nonsense or o'bachene Unfüge, the main thing is not completely humorless or uptight!" (Quote from a recent soliloquy)

According to Mantel, those who are capable of self-irony have an advantage. Why? The aim of "GELL!" is to prove this by means of encounters with all kinds of right-wingers and blabbermouths, rumblers and amiable braggarts, well-meaning Siachen, impertinent sea rooks and half-shy hare skulls.

In addition to Homo Pfiffikus, Homo Gschicktle and Schläuchle also have their say, as do people and fellow human beings who "just don't want to get into anything", as well as lifestyle policemen and women who always know exactly "what's happening", but which "doesn't work at all, GELL!"
