THE GALLERY | THE HOUSE

Visitors should not expect a classic white cube.
The name of the gallery comes from the year the half-timbered house was built - 1565. Formerly a blue dye works, the past and present merge in a fascinating way in these historic, sloping rooms, creating a contrasting arc of tension between artwork and architectural history. In 2023, the building was awarded the monument prize for one of the best renovated historical buildings in Germany.
The gallery hosts thematically changing exhibitions of contemporary art by young artists. In addition to the classic gallery activities, the program also includes art and cultural mediation in workshops, performances and other exclusive events. The premises are also rented out temporarily for conferences and seminars.
