Mischa and Christiane are happily married and their son is a successful student, so everything could be carefree. But on Mischa's 50th birthday, his boss announces not only that he is taking partial retirement, but that he is quitting immediately with a full pension. Suddenly Mischa feels old, very old. Christiane hardly recognizes her moaning heap of misery. When his best friends arrive for his birthday party, an emotional storm brews - the beginning of "old age puberty".
