Singspiel based on the Bremen Town Musicians with live music

Once upon a time ... donkey, dog, cat and chicken formed a band together, because: "He who sings is not dead." But unlike in the Grimm's version of the Bremen Town Musicians, it is the four animals themselves who quit or escape from their oppressors.

Grey the donkey has worked long enough to the point of exhaustion. Cunning the dog no longer wants to be on the chain guarding his employer's wealth. With his last ounce of strength, Chicken Commun escapes from factory farming. Black cat is pulled pregnant and half-dead from the sea. The four of them dare to rebel and want to force a better world based on solidarity. With their songs and their joy of discussion, they provide a fabulous example of how confidence can be maintained in the face of global crises.

Martin Heckmanns' award-winning play is a rousing poetic-political parable about the problems of our time. The successful world premiere production at the Staatstheater Kassel continues to tour from city to city in a changing form; the well-known Grimm quote in the title of this Singspiel becomes the motto of the tour.
