EUGENE CHADBOURNE & SCHROEDER
The sensitive, intelligent and versatile Eugene Chadbourne is a master of improvisation and deconstruction. He breaks down pieces of music into their individual parts and plays ingenious interpretations of Prince, Beatles, Beach Boys, Byrds and many others. He has developed his own instruments, such as the electric rake (an ordinary garden rake with an attached pickup and balloons as string dampers), which he plays alongside conventional instruments such as banjo and guitar. Live, he is loved for his shenanigans and crazy, quirky songs and covers. He has released around 140 records since 1975, was the head of Shockabilly and has worked with Violent Femmes, Fred Frith, John Zorn, Paul Lovens, Aki Takase, Jello Biafra and Derek Bailey, among others.
His accompanist, Schroeder, an exceptional drummer from the Ruhr region of Germany, is a musician without a fixed band. He plays around 180 concerts a year in very different projects.

The two musicians first met at the Zappanale 2003, where Chadbourne was playing in a duo with the legendary Zappa drummer Jimmy Carl Black. Schroeder was a member of Mike Kennelly's trio, the so-called stunt soloist on the Frank Zappa albums.
