A millennium wind howls through the corridors of abandoned palaces. Orphaned centers of power. The monuments to imperial superiority: destroyed. A pack of stoats sleeps in the ballroom. A nameless ego walks through the ruins of civilization, asking about the root of the catastrophe. How could it come to this, when it foresaw everything, knew everything? In a rhythmic-musical journey, it questions the human belief in progress and ends up in the heart of European colonialism. The Spanish conquistadors on their ruthless search for Eldorado are combined with the addicts of the American opioid crisis, the greed for profit of large corporations with the longing for salvation of desperate people in a society that has run dry, that knows about its downfall - and yet does not act.
In "eure paläste sind leer (all we ever wanted)", award-winning author Thomas Köck puts his finger deep into the wound of a broken capitalist world and its misguided developments, as a result of which not only people but also the planet and its resources are being exploited.
