Europäische Soirée

In the organizer's words:

Europe is a continent of diversity - characterized by different languages, cultures and traditions. But despite all the differences, there is something that unites us: the universal language of art. Music and poetry create a unique dialog between countries and people, bridging borders and telling common stories.

As part of Europe Week, the evening brings together cultural voices from France, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. These four countries not only have an eventful history together, but also a rich tradition in music and literature. As this year's guest country of the German-French-Polish organizing team, the Czech Republic will have its own focus on this varied evening.

With musical and lyrical contributions on the theme "Between lines and trains: Borderless journeys through Europe" from France, Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. We welcome French author Julie Tirard, Czech playwright Jana Startsev, German author Claudia Rikl and Leipzig author Elmar Schenkel as guests. They will be shaping the evening with literary contributions in various languages. The musical (and Polish) part of the journey will be performed by singers Eliza Albert and Dorota Bronikowska (Leipzig Opera) together with pianist Gabriela Stanisz.
Bernd Karwen will accompany us on this journey as moderator.

In cooperation with the European Foundation of the Rahn Dittrich Group for Education and Culture, the Europahaus Leipzig, the Polish Institute Berlin - Leipzig Branch and the City Partnership Leipzig - Brno e.V.

This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
