At the third and last public event within the exhibition "Überarbeit: The Reserve Army of (Precarious) Labor" (running until 10.05.2026) we will show "Volkswagen - Factory workers in Germany and Brazil" (1974) by Jorge Bodanzky and Wolf Gauer. In this short film, Gauer and Bodanzky - a post-Cinema Novo filmmaker - compare the lives and material conditions of two Volkswagen factory workers in Brazil and Germany. Beforehand, the two artists Filipe Lippe & Vijai Maia Patchineelam will talk about the individual works on display and explain how they relate to the main theme of the exhibition - the precarization of working conditions under neoliberalism - drawing on references found in the exhibition's collective "Workplace Reading Laboratory". The evening will end with a collective discussion following the screening.
