What makes humans human?

The eccentric internet mogul Nathan invites the shy programmer Caleb to take part in an experiment: Caleb is to find out in an extended Turing test what distinguishes artificial intelligence from humans. To this end, he is initiated into the AI genius's most secret invention: the robot Ava, who is almost indistinguishable from a human and is being developed by Nathan in the middle of nowhere... or is she being held captive? It soon becomes clear that Ava is unhappy with her passive role - if she can feel anything like happiness at all. And the more Caleb gets to know the empathetic and intelligent "woman", the more difficult the answers become and the bigger the questions. What is this really about - and who is actually testing whom? A futuristic chamber play based on the Oscar-nominated film by Alex Garland.
