During an excursion to the Barbara Adit near Oberried, we move through the demilitarized zone in several stages. This is intended to protect cultural property stored in the gallery under the Hague Conventions in the event of armed conflict. Along the way, we read from the correspondence between Günther Anders and Claude Eatherly and listen to locally researched, historical audio material from the Cold War era. In this way, we approach topics such as guilt and responsibility in the age of newly created (weapon) technologies as well as concepts of security and protection, distances and borders.

By listening to local stories, a connection is made between the abstract, global threat of nuclear weapons and our immediate, local living environment.
With this performative walk, Isabel Motz explores how the perception of a landscape otherwise characterized by tourism is changed by what is read and heard.

11:00 Meeting point at the main station on platform 1 by the escalator
11:10 Departure S1/S11 direction Neustadt, change in Kirchzarten to bus 7215 direction Schauinsland mountain station to the bus stop Hintertal, Oberried. During the journey, which takes approx. 35 minutes, there is a welcome and initial information.

11:45 Arrival at the Hintertal bus stop, start of the walk
