Once a year, always on the last Saturday in June, the Ruhr region puts on an ExtraSchicht - and has been doing so since 2001. It does so in its very own way. Not in one place, not with a main character, but everywhere where the pulse of the Ruhr continues to beat: in former collieries, steelworks and industrial plants, museums and landmarks. A cultural festival right across the Ruhr region.

Dance on the blast furnace, light art in the steelworks or street theater at the coking plant. Everything is possible and different every year. But one thing remains the same: we celebrate the industrial heritage of the Ruhr region together. ExtraSchicht is about discovering places that are no longer what they used to be. Places that have changed or are in the process of doing so. They are all waiting for you. They all offer you a full eight-hour program ranging from action to time travel and provide you with light and shade, highs and lows, loud and quiet, old and new. And you can experience it all with just one ticket!
